भूः

BHUH

The ground beneath everything.

The word

Bhuh is the first of the three worlds.

In the ancient Sanskrit invocation Om Bhūr Bhuvaḥ Svaḥ, three realms are named in order — and the journey begins with the one we stand on. Bhuh is the earth: the physical, the tangible, the soil and water that hold all life.

Why bhuh

We are not on the earth. We are of the earth. Every breath borrowed, every step held. Bhuh is a reminder to tread gently and to look after the ground that looks after us.
